What to do if I've changed or am about to change phones and use Microsoft Authenticator?

If you've changed or are about to change phones and are using Microsoft Authenticator on your account, you'll need to register your new phone as a verification method for your account. You can do this by following these steps:

  1. Install the Microsoft Authenticator app (Microsoft Authenticator app for mobile devices | Microsoft Security) if you don't already have it. You can download it from Google Play or App Store.
  2. Sign in to your school/work account on a web browser using your old phone or another device.
  3. Go to https://aka.ms/mfasetup
  4. Select "Add Method".
  5. Select "Authenticator App" as the method and click "Add".
  6. Open Microsoft Authenticator on your new phone and tap "+" to add an account.
  7. Scan the QR code displayed on the browser with your new phone.
  8. Enter the six-digit code displayed in the app on the browser and click "Next".
  9. You have now registered your new phone as a verification method for your school/work account. You can remove your old phone from the list if you want.

If you have changed your phone and no longer have access to your old phone, you unfortunately need to contact us via support@du.se.
